Northern Harness Racing

Northern Harness Racing (NHR) are a small group of like-minded members who are working to promote conditioned races.

We believe as a sport we are losing too many horses and horse owners and are seriously worried about the long-term future of our sport. We know that everybody needs a taste of success. We felt that the use of conditioned races could encourage all connections that there was something for every horse. From this belief our little group was formed.

Last year we hastily arranged races at two fixtures, hopefully this year there will be more – however we will need to raise funds to do this. We will vary conditions race by race, we hope to go with the usual non-winners, try a race for ‘non-professionally trained’ horses, mile and a half or longer, sprints or any other combinations we can think of. If you want help to put on a conditioned race at a meeting, or if you have an idea for a conditioned race please contact one of our members.

In return for helping to sponsor your race all we ask is that you acknowledge us in your programme. We even supply the text!
